Indonesia has officially introduced a new immigration status called Global Citizenship of Indonesia (GCI).

The policy was officially introduced on 19 November 2025 and allows eligible applicants to obtain permanent residence with no expiration.

What Is GCI?
Global Citizenship of Indonesia (GCI) is a special residence status granted by the Indonesian government.
Unlike standard visas or KITAS permits, GCI offers lifetime residency, meaning you do not need to renew your stay every few years or rely on a sponsor.
This program reflects Indonesia’s commitment to reconnecting with:
- Former Indonesian citizens
- Overseas descendants
- Families formed through mixed marriages
Who Is Eligible?
GCI is intended for individuals with proven Indonesian connections, including:
- Former Indonesian citizens (Ex-WNI)
- Children or grandchildren of Indonesian citizens living abroad
- Spouses of Indonesian citizens or former citizens
- Children from mixed marriages
